Brutide, the Ruffian Pokémon
Brutide is a feared and relentless predator that dominates coastal waters, ruling its domain with an iron fin. A fusion of sheer muscle and instinctive cunning, it is as dangerous in battle as it is in the wild. Unlike most Pokémon that hunt for survival, Brutide fights purely for the thrill of proving its strength. It enjoys overpowering opponents, whether they are strong or weak, taking satisfaction in crushing anything that dares to challenge it.
It thrives in packs, forming ruthless gangs where strength is the only law. These gangs have no sense of loyalty—members follow the strongest out of fear, knowing that weakness is punished without hesitation. Brutide’s kind constantly battle among themselves for dominance, their brutal fights leaving scars across their thick, armored bodies. If a leader falters, the gang will turn on them instantly, and the fallen will either be cast out or devoured.
Encounters with Brutide are dangerous, as they do not tolerate intrusions into their territory. Fishermen and sailors tell stories of boats disappearing in waters where a Brutide gang patrols, the wreckage found days later with deep claw marks and bite wounds. Pokémon that stray into their turf rarely escape, often overwhelmed by a pack that fights as one. Even other apex predators are wary of challenging a group of Brutide, knowing that they will be mercilessly swarmed if they show any sign of weakness.
A single Brutide alone is no less terrifying. While most of its species prefer the strength of numbers, some choose to operate independently, either by choice or exile. These solitary Brutide are often the most dangerous, hardened by the battles they fought to survive. Unlike their gang-bound kin, who revel in raw dominance, a lone Brutide is calculated and precise, striking with an eerie confidence that makes it even more intimidating.
For trainers, taming a Brutide is nearly impossible without proving absolute control. If it does not fear or respect its trainer, it will act on its own, starting fights whenever it pleases and ignoring commands entirely. Only those with unwavering authority and battle prowess can hope to keep Brutide in check, and even then, it remains a Pokémon that is never fully tamed. It fights by its own rules, and even under a trainer, it still carries the soul of an untouchable ruler of the tides.
