Jinxle, the Gremlin Pokémon
Jinxle is a Pokémon whispered about in hushed tones by those unfortunate enough to encounter it. No one knows exactly where they come from—only that when one appears, trouble follows. Legends speak of eerie, high-pitched cackling echoing through empty streets, a sound that sends shivers down the spines of even the most seasoned trainers. Small and seemingly harmless at first glance, Jinxle is anything but. It is pure, unfiltered chaos in a tiny, spectral form, a trickster with no sense of restraint or remorse.
Unlike most mischievous Pokémon, Jinxle does not play tricks for fun or food. It does not seek attention, nor does it have any discernible motive other than to disrupt the order of the world around it. It thrives in disorder, its energy only increasing the more havoc it causes. It will bite ankles with sharp little teeth, send objects flying with bursts of dark energy, and disappear into thin air before anyone can react. It has no master, no allies, and no interest in forming bonds. Even Pokémon known for their mischievous nature, such as Sableye and Shuppet, keep their distance, seemingly unnerved by its unpredictable and relentless behavior.
A single Jinxle in a town is enough to throw daily life into disarray. People wake up to find their doors locked from the inside, their belongings missing, and their Pokémon spooked for no apparent reason. Markets descend into confusion as signs are swapped and goods go missing, only to be found stacked in bizarre formations on rooftops. At night, Jinxle is at its most active, racing through alleyways, knocking over trash cans, and letting out distorted, shrieking sounds that resemble laughter—or perhaps something worse. Those who have heard these cries describe them as unsettling, almost like a voice trying to form words but never quite managing it.
Capturing a Jinxle is often considered an act of desperation rather than ambition. Those who attempt to keep one quickly realize their mistake. It refuses to battle seriously, disobeying commands simply to frustrate its trainer. When inside a Pokéball, it will shake violently, as if trying to escape at all times. It steals items from its own trainer, hides Pokéballs in places no one would think to check, and occasionally lets itself out just to cause more trouble. Some trainers report waking up to find their own team of Pokémon in disarray, exhausted from a night of torment at Jinxle’s claws. Others claim that their Jinxle has disappeared entirely, slipping away into the night as if it had never been caught at all.
Despite its small size, the damage it leaves in its wake is enough to make it infamous. Some believe that it is an omen, that its presence signals the beginning of something far worse. Others argue that it has always existed in secret, lurking just out of sight, choosing when and where to strike. There are stories of entire towns that once lived in peace, only for a single Jinxle to turn everything upside down, forcing people to leave their homes just to escape its torment. Yet no matter how much trouble they cause, no one has ever seen more than one Jinxle in the same place. It is as if they avoid each other, or perhaps, the world cannot handle more than one at a time.
